Ad Nausea

January 26th, 2007 · No Comments

Viagra — where would we be without it? Well, we’d probably be about 30,000 less people and the evolutionary chain wouldn’t have been slowed down to the crawl of a snail tied to a rock that’s part of the Devil’s Tower.

WASHINGTON (Washington Post) — An AIDS organization sued Pfizer Inc. on Monday over ads the group says encourage use of Viagra as a party drug. The group said recreational use of the drug furthers the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.

The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, calls Pfizer’s ads for the impotence drug false and misleading. The suit echoes allegations made in an ad campaign announced by the group last month.

They claim just the ads are responsible for the rise in STDs? That doesn’t sound plausible. If anything, they cause extreme nausea. Middled aged people getting randy in public, the thought is making the oatmeal rise in my esophagus as we speak.

Now there’s no doubt in our mind that Viagra is evil, but is suing the ADS the smartest move? The ads are a bigger turnoff than a naked Dick Cheney clutching a shotgun.
