This one hits a little close to home because I’m a Mavs fan and there’s no one more painful to be right now short of being a Republican, a Peter Pan peanut butter CEO or an Iraqi. But even this suit has me scratching my head.

DALLAS, Tex. (Ft. Worth Star Telegram) — Mavericks owner Mark Cuban believes Golden State’s sizzling shooting alone didn’t sink his basketball team in the most stunning playoff defeat in NBA history.

That’s according to Don Nelson’s attorney, John O’Connor, who said Cuban is suing Nelson, claiming the Warriors beat the Mavs in the first round because the Warriors’ coach — and former coach of the Mavs — had “confidential information and he [Cuban] wants to enjoin Don from coaching against the Mavericks.”

Come on, Cuban knows he can’t win this one. If Nelson actually knew more about the players, he would have taken the Mavs to the final when he had the chance.

Cuban told the paper right now they only have “claims” but is “not sure how to handle them.” In other words, it’s just like being an NBA owner.

Of course, Nelson’s no innocent. He sued Cuban for back pay to the tune of $6.5 million. The two plan to sue each other for the next 20 years, then retire in Boca Raton.
