We’re pretty spoiled in America. We have it better than most countries. We can eat more food in one hour than some people can see in their whole life and blame it on a thyroid problem. We can own more guns than a small South African militia and claim it’s part of expressing our patriotism. And, of course, we can see enough gratuitious sex in our movies to make a million kids go blind. Some countries, however, don’t have it so good, like India…
BHOPAL, India (WENN) — Bollywood stars AISHWARYA RAI and HRITHIK ROSHAN have been accused of obscenity by a lawyer upset at a kissing scene they share in DHOOM 2.
Indian attorney SHAILENDRA DWIVEDI believes the romance in the SANJAY GADHVI film - an action thriller about a police chase to catch a hi-tech international thief - is undignified and derogatory to women and sends out the wrong message to the country’s youth.
He’s worried that a kissing scene will turn his country into writhing, seething, overly hormonal sex maniacs? I’ve got two words for him: “Basic Instinct.”
I’ve never understood the logic behind people in power trying to outlaw overly sexual films, TV shows and pieces of art because of their instinctual belief that it will cause the childhood population to skyrocket. Would they be more effective if they encourage parents to sit down with their kids and explain to them why such scenes or unrealistic or meant to portray something that it really isn’t? The least they could do is make a movie about it.
