Dumb Lawsuits

BEIJING, Feb. 15 (Xinhuanet) — A government official said Wednesday that China will deal with a U.S. drugmaker’s lawsuit concerning Viagra’s patent in compliance with the law.

Tian Lipu, Commissioner of China’s State Intellectual Property Office, said the Beijing Municipal First Intermediate People’s Court has accepted Pfizer Pharmaceutical’s petition.

“The case is still in judicial procedures,” Tian said, “We are confident that Chinese judicial authorities will handle the case in line with laws.”

It seems that some people are stealing Pfizer’s recipe or “counterfeiting” Viagra in China and this patent would ensure it’s safe introduction to the people of China. There’s a billion people in China! Do they need more encouragement to procreate?

How do you counterfeit Viagra? If you get get aroused from your wife and someone gives you a placebo, the only way it will work is if the doctor replaces your wife with Racquel Welch or he gets you really drunk and an industrial strength pair of beer goggles.

Of course, attorneys for Pfizer are worried that if the patent lawsuit is approved, it won’t be able to stand up in court. In a related story, I’m going to be sued by Andy if I don’t stop using that joke.
