Actually I saw this on the Today show. They didn’t talk him out of jumping the guards grabbed him. Which is why he is saying they endangered his life (they could have ripped his parachute, broken one of his limbs, wind could have picked him up and carried him off at the wrong trajectory, etc). Though he didn’t get permission before jumping, he just ran out onto the roof and started climbing the fence that prevents suicides.
