Gambling is one of those vices that I tend to give some of its victims some slack. It’s easy to see how easy it can become an addiction. The adrenaline from watching a race that has your money on the line combined with the pipe dream of becoming so rich that you can afford to buy gold butlers is a hard cocktail to pass up. However, it doesn’t say much for your intelligence.
According to the BBC, an addictive gambler has sued his bookie for failing to stop him from gambling.
The man claims he lost somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 million pounds after he repeatedly told his bookie to stop letting him gamble. Apparently it was just after every single bet he placed with him.
The suit is based on negligence on the bookie’s part. How can this be negligence? He did the man hired him to do. If the man placed a bet and the bookie groomed his dog instead, then you might have a case.
The court is still trying to determine if the bookie can be held liable for the man’s losses and if they can put down a C-note against Manchester United to go down by the half.
