You know the old saying, “It doesn’t pay to help anyone anymore because all they’ll do is find a way to exploit your kindness, take you to court and drain every last ounce of dough out of you like an apple in a cider squeezer?” Ok, I always said that, but…
MADISON, Ill. (Madison County Record) — A woman who was injured while holding open the door for customers at the Edwardsville Pizza Hut filed a personal injury suit against the restaurant and the man to whom she extended the courtesy.
Amanda Verett claims she was walking out the door of Pizza Hut on Feb. 12, when she held open the door to allow herself and co-defendant Clarence Jackson to exit.
“Jackson grabbed the door in such a fashion that it caused the door to suddenly and sharply move,” the complaint written by Edwardsville attorney Tom Maag states.
Dear God, what ever could have happened? She suffered a “acromion process impingement in her right shoulder” or as it’s also known by its non-clinical term, an idea to sue the pants off this guy for all the money he’s got.
She’s asking for $150,000 in damages, plus costs. Costs?!?!? Will the $150,000 not be enough to cover the Stuffed Crust Pizza you also scarfed down that night, missy?
People think there’s not enough nice people in the world, but it’s not because people don’t try. It’s because people who people try to be nice to end up biting their hand off and even some of their wrists and those nice people simply disappear. Me? I’m just a born a-hole. Damn genetics.

Not that this has much to do with this story I live in South Carolina and they have outlawed video poker machines since the lottery cam. But the funny thing was when they outlawed poker machines there were lawsuits from people suing cause they spent there money in the poker machines. The logic in this? I do not know.

Okay, I live in Norway…If I get a door slammed in my face, I would probably have a nosebleed, and that’s it! No sueing at all! We don’t have time for lawsuits like this in Norway…

Sounds to me like the guy ripped the door out of her arm and ripped something in the arm. Frankly, I’d sue the SOB as well if I had some guy rip muscles in my arm, or the like.
