Return from the Death…OF THE PANTS!

I know we said we weren’t going to cover the Roy Pearson pants lawsuit case anymore because giving such a man so much cyber-time seemed unreasonable and pointless (our hits were dropping every hour). But we’ve broken our promise for a good reason. We have some good news and it’s not about Pearson spilling mustard on his pants during his lunch hour.

According to the Associated Press, a fundraiser was held for Jin Nam Chung and Soo Chung, the owners of Custom Cleaners, to raise money for their legal fees. Pearson, of course, is the judge who sued the Chungs for $54 million for losing his pair of pants.

The Chungs beat the rap, but they unfortunately now owe $100,000 in legal fees. Did they get their lawyers at the Sharper Image?

The American Tort Reform Association and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform hosted the fundraiser. It netted more than $64,000. They also had the offending pants at the fundraiser with a security guard standing watch over them. He’s supposed to make sure the pants’ evil doesn’t escape.
