Just a word of warning, if you’re going to search for the word “lesbian” on Google Images (and who hasn’t), make sure you’re not at work and if you are at work and your boss catches you, make sure you do it on the computer with the bigger monitor so he doesn’t have to strain his eyes to see. Companies are cutting back on vision plans these days, you know.
According to the AP, three residents of the Isle of Lesbos have filed a lawsuit over the name of their homeland.
They filed a suit against a gay rights group over the title of “lesbians.” They claim it insults the Greek residents who live there, as opposed to say the “You like the juice?” guys on Saturday Night Live, the Mario Brothers and the horrid “My Big Fat Greek Wedding.” I know the Mario Brothers are Italian, but why do they eat so many mushrooms?
One of the plaintiffs said the title is demeaning because her sister can’t say she’s a lesbian without people giggling uncontrollably. See, just like how you’re giggling now.
The plaintiffs targeted the Greek gay rights group because it’s the only one in the area, not there’s anything wrong with that.

Wouldn’t the correct description or referral of the people living in lesbos be Lesbosians and not lesbians???? If you drop the “OS” off of Lesbos you land up with the Isle of Lesb which doesn’t exist. If the woman gets laughed at by using the term lesbian instead of lesbosian she and her Islanders derserve to be laughed at. Does anyone else agree??? Or, is my way of deduction incorrect??? But by all means still have a great day!!

Schultz, your way of deduction is only correct in English. In Greek, the word “Lesvia” describes both a female resident of Lesvos and a homosexual woman.

This sounds as ridiculous as the time some of my countrymen went to Spain and found a porn magazine with the title Gozo (Apparantly it means Orgasm) They wanted to sue the Book store actually for selling it… *sigh* … got to love people.

Couldn’t she just say “I’m from the Isle of Lesbos.” instead of “I’m a Lesbian.”?
But I guess real simple solutions do not pay lawsuit money.
