Stuck in a Rutgers

September 16th, 2007 · 1 Comment

We were always on the side of the Rutgers players’ when it came to Don Imus’ comment-gate because it was dumb, inappropriate and (worst of all) un-damn-funny. It’s one thing to say something shocking in order to make a satricial point, but Imus’ “nappy-headed-hos” crack really made no sense. That doesn’t sound like something a seasoned broadcaster would say. It doesn’t even sound like something that a “nappy-headed ho” would say.

That’s why it pains us to call his lawsuit brought by one of the players a “dumb lawsuit.” According to the Associated Press, one of the players dropped their defamation lawsuit against Imus earlier this week.

The player claimed the shock jockey’s joke ruined her reputation and damaged her image, all 15 minutes of it.

Her spokesperson said she decided to drop the suit so she could focus on her education and basketball career. She did not specify a settlement amount, but we can only hope it included a swift kick in the nuts.
