Taxpayers end up buying lawyer a new house

The same lawyer responsible for the previous lawsuit involving fost children also made news with his lawsuit against Washington State in 2000. He set a state record with a $22 million settlement to survivors of a driver killed in a car crash involving a man who was on a community-supervision portion of a 3rd degree assault charge. The governor, rightfully so, vowed to appeal the verdict. If all of the 55,000 persons in the supervision program were scrutinized as much as they are in jail, it would make the program unmanageable and cost incredible amounts of money. The lawyer in this case does not care however. He got a nice little cut of the profit. Score: Taxpayers – 0, Scummy Lawyers – 1.
