Shhhh, did you hear that? That crashing sound? What it could it be? Did a neighbor drop a television off of their roof? Did a car crash happen in your living room? Did your son try to teach the cat how to drive…again? Nope, that’s the sound of the Recording Industry Association of America officially bottoming out.

According to the Washington Post, the RIAA is now also going after people who burn music onto to CDs whether they purchased the original CDs legally or not.

This time, they are going after a man who burned approximately 2,000 songs onto CDs. They claim it’s illegal to burn music onto a CD, even if you legally purchased it. What’s next? Does listening to a song on the radio that you haven’t purchased on a CD constitute as illegal?

Lawyers claim the copies the man made on his computer from the CDs were “unauthorized copies” and the RIAA’s website called the practice “stealing.” That’s right, you who just burned a copy of “The Thong Song” on your friend’s blank CD for your sweet 16 party. You and Kenneth Lay are in the same boat. Hope you can paddle upstream.

When is the RIAA going to wise up and realize the reason their returns are declining is because their music SUCKS with a capital “UCK”? Blaming declining music sales on peer-to-peer swapping or CD burning is like blaming a house fire on the flammability of wood.
